Wow, I saw The Reincarnation of Peter Proud when it came out. Margot Kidder, hubba hubba. 100% agree, "ride the wave." When I grew up, we went from almost 100% trust including Mr. Cronkite, to 90-95% trust to having to triangulate, the facts to determine what "Pravda" really is or "that's the way it was." It's virtually impossible to eliminate bias. Trust, but verify. I've never smoked a twin bore. Does sound fiddly for cleaning. Strength to you and your family with your brother.

Well I tend to base statements of truth on my own experience. If I havent experienced it I dont disregard what is said as false. Ill think about it and what I know to be true and see if I think it's possible. Maybe try and experience it for myself if thats possible. Its a pretty reliable process for vetting a statement. Now if I cant experience it directly like something historical usually I put myself as close to it as possible and use my knowledge of human nature to determine what I might have done here compared to what is reported. Yes that is less accurate, but theres always bias even if one is a witness. What is happening today is you see the sky is blue yet the news reports its now green and people say well yeah its green. They say it is, so I guess it is and I must be wrong. Thats literally how bad it is. Somewhere along the line people have become reliant on somebody else to tell them what is real. Rather than relying on their own experience. Its a strange phenomenon really. My father in law just recently passed because of undiagnosed diabetes. Thats right diabetes. Many doctors and er visits and he literally wasted away and succumbed to heart failure and kidney failure from undiagnosed diabetes. Dont trust doctors. This is only one example I could give to support that fact. Take care Mike.

I also remember ads for another movie of that era, Stanley. Stanley was ateen who had been mercilessly bullied. He sought his revenge. I have an eye disorder , Nystagmus, so itbhelped if I satbclose to the tv. Well Stanley's revengebwas to find the bullies drive up in his GTO and throw a rattlesnake at the bullies. I am not a fan of snakes. Very good talk. Cronkite would report the news. There wss no "spin". As a teen I remember Cronkite in a print ad for Sail Yellow Mixture. Trust and honesty are precious. Unfortunately what were once looked upon as sources of important information have devolved into sources of distraction and agendas. Were the American people worse off because they weren't informed about FDR's inability to stand and walk normally? Totally agree on ‘who can we trust?’ on determining what is true or not true. Lately I’ve been dreading going to supermarket and getting shocked by the grocery bill. Don’t need anyone to tell me that the price of everything is going up up and up.

Mike you are incredible at articulating your thoughts. I admittedly listen to your videos during work in my truck all day . Old videos and new. Even ones I’ve already heard . No , I’m not a psycho stalker. You and I couldn’t be more different and yet have such similarities. I’m no scientist , I’m an HVAC contractor. I’ve made a few videos over the years and they are nothing compared to yours. There is something soothing about your voice and attitude. You’ve even been a help at inspiring to go back the Catholic Church after about a 30 year absence. My heart aches for you and your brother and I hope and pray for a positive outcome . Cronkite overnight flipped on Vietnam right when we were close to finishing it. That turned public sentiment against it, which Congress used as the excuse to defund it, and South Vietnam was abandoned. Shameful. All those lives sacrificed ultimately for nothing and it wouldn't have happened without Cronkite.

Sorry to hear the bad news about your brother. I've been keeping a good thought for him and will continue to. Maybe the 2nd opinion will put things in a better light. As somebody who's on the autism spectrum, I wish I could offer something helpful about talking to him without scaring him. Unfortunately, I'm sure you've heard the saying that if you know one autistic person, you know one autistic person. Hope you get good news from Dartmouth.

Excellent demonstration of how to make the perfect pipe mortar 👌

Well I tried Pipe Mortar on several pipes now cobs and briars following the recipe in the video and I found the results disappointing at best…not only is it a bit messy and more time consuming to apply compared to muddying with cigar ash but it simply does not hold up as well…after allowing several days for the pipe mortar to dry in the pipe bowl my smoked pipes returned it to its wetted stage and when it had time again to dry out produced a powdery dust-like residue that had to be shaken out of the bowl before smoking again. All things being equal I am of the opinion that muddying with cigar ash remains a better and simpler way to go. Not perfect but superior to pipe mortar as addressed in this video.

This is a very complicated issue. It's hard to understand why people pursue the interests and goals they do. On the bright side ..... the people who went down this path in medicine has brought us great advances in the treatment of cancer and other diseases. The knowledge of how the universe was formed is another good example. When it comes to thinking about our life after death ...... I try not to think about it because I don't know what is going to happen and I'm slightly scared of what some of the possibilities will be.

Mike, I too studied this existential nonsense in college, rejected it outright, luckily I had a very astute and brilliant philosophy professor who came to the same conclusion you did, "if life is meaningless, there is no sense in trying to find meaning in a meaningless world so why even pursue it?" Lord save us from the Camus of this world, they are not worth our time of day, keep puffin.

Why are we thinking about it? Because we are alive and have no choice but trying to make the most of it. Existentialism is a philosophical and literary current which considers that the human being forms the essence of his life through his own actions, these not being predetermined by theological, philosophical or moral doctrines. In other words, it pushes us to be proactive in the search of happiness and fulfillment. My vision is that we should all try to be the best version of ourselves, which as we all know is not so easy. Ultimately, what differentiate us is immortality. You think that there’s eternity awaiting us and as far as I know, nobody can say for sure if will be so or not. Since I do not have that certitude, I had to find a purpose in life, and I think that is what drives every existentialist. “There is in this world, where everything wears out, where everything perishes, one thing which falls into ruin, which is destroyed, even more completely, leaving even fewer vestiges than beauty: it is sorrow. » Marcel Proust “Desire makes everything blossom; possession makes everything wither and fade.” Proust first and foremost was advocating to be grateful for our initial circumstances in life. He wanted us not to despair at how our life is but rather, feel appreciative for what we have, of the opportunity that we should all aspire to grasp.
